REALTOR NEWS
Until legislation providing for funding is signed into law, many offices and programs of the federal government are now shut down. This means many, but not all, government programs including some that impact federal housing and mortgage programs have been suspended or slowed due to the lapse in government funding.
National Association of REALTORS staff has reviewed agency contingency plans and compiled a document describing how the government shutdown could have an impact on some real estate transactions. For more information, click here.
Freddie
Mac has issued temporary guidance to lenders to minimize disruptions to the
mortgage market during the current government shutdown.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
New
York was again ranked as having the worst business tax climate in the country,
the second year in a row the state was given the title. The ranking was
made by the Tax Foundation, a business-backed think tank based in Washington
D.C., who found that New York and the other states at the bottom of its business
tax climate ranking suffer from the same afflictions: complex, non-neutral
taxes with comparatively high rates.
