REALTOR NEWS
On
Dec. 1, the Federal Conference Committee reconciled the House and Senate
versions of the Surface Transportation Bill. The newly-released report uses the
House language supported by REALTORS that eliminates an extension of the g-fee
as a financing mechanism for transportation. While this is an important step in
the process, the final report still must be passed by both the House and Senate, then be signed into law by the President Barack Obama. Learn more here.
Home
sales are poised to reach the highest levels since 2006 next year, according to
a 2016 housing forecast issued by REALTOR.com. Gains in new-home construction and
existing home sales are both expected to push total home sales to the highest
levels in years. Fueling the increase in total sales, REALTOR.com predicts
three distinct segments of home buyers to dominate: older millennials (25 to 34
years old); younger Generation Xers (35 to 44 years old); and retirees (65 to
74 years old). Learn more here.
