AHRMA's Diversity and Inclusion Meeting is October 21, at the Austin Hilton Hotel
Registration opens September 18th!
Our Luncheon Keynote will feature Nancy Shugart, former public school music teacher and now the Executive Director of "Prove Them Wrong." Blind since the age of eight, Nancy will share how she overcame the obstacles to achieve her career of choice. Appointed by Governor Rick Perry, Nancy serves on several committees for Texans with disabilities.
Gina Duncan will be the Speaker for a special break out session. Gina is a National and International corporate trainer specializing in transgender dynamics in the workplace. Having completed the transition herself, Gina provides knowledge of the dynamics of the transgender community, with the belief that embracing gender diversity in the workplace increases productivity while providing a corporate competitive advantage.
Look what else is happening around AHRMA...
SHRM's own Jeff Pon addresses the attendees at the AHRMA Annual Conference
Debi Dault and Wendy Chance with Jeff Pon at a round table discussion at AHRMA Annual Conference Thinking Critically - It is Time to Rethink the Way We Think
On September 18th, AHRMA features just that - a day of opportunities for us all to explore a different way of thinking. The National Council for Excellence in Critical Thinking (a non-profit organization based in the U.S) defines critical thinking as the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. Whew....that is a head full of big words!
Bottom line - we need to take another look at the "how, what, when, where, and why" we do our profession. We need to Pivot ever so slightly so that we can see creative solutions to our problems of overwhelm, frustration or perceived lack of credibility - and overall, our business. Through new information, interaction, and the discovery of new tools and techniques, join us on September 18th for a whole day to "Rethink the Way we Think."
By attending two professional development sessions and the AHRMA luncheon on September 18th, you can achieve up to 5 HRCI recertification credits at the Strategic Business level.
