On November 16, the CPA attended the semi-annual meeting of the TDG General Policy Advisory Council (GPAC). During the meeting, Benoit Turcotte, Executive Director of Regulatory Frameworks and International Engagement, provided a detailed update on recent and upcoming activities in relation to the TDG Regulations and an update on the proposed approach to amend Part 6 (Training) of the TDG Regulations.

At the September 2016 meeting of the Council of Ministers Responsible for Transportation and Highway Safety, the Ministers agreed to establish a new Federal/Provincial/Territorial task force to identify areas that would benefit from increased harmonization in the trucking sector. The task force will study interprovincial truck-related legislation, regulations and policies, with a goal of improving the efficiency of interprovincial/territorial trucking, including harmonizing these where warranted.
