The Canadian Propane Association is monitoring COVID-19 and keeping members informed as it relates to the propane industry as well as compiling information sources for business continuity planning and risk mitigation. Several provinces have extended validation periods for drivers licences, registrations, certificates and permits in response to COVID-19. The CPA is working on the permitting, licensing and training re-certifications for those provinces not listed or where extensions have yet to be granted. On behalf of their members, the Canadian Propane Association and Association québécoise du propane Inc. have joined forces with other industry associations to donate to food banks across the country and help those in need. The Minister of Transport announced measures to reduce train derailments through three different Ministerial Orders directed to railway companies. The three new Ministerial Orders will come into effect immediately and will remain in place until permanent rule changes are approved.
Transport Canada has indicated that it plans to delay the date for it’s regulatory work on railway data requirements. Due to COVID-19, the draft regulatory proposal will be rescheduled and while a date is difficult to provide at this time, they have targeted a fall meeting to consult with industry on the new proposal.
Technical Safety BC has issued a new directive – D-BP 2019-01: Boiler, Pressure Vessel & Refrigeration Contractor Licensing Requirements. This guidance will provide online CRN design registration, FAQ, contractor license requirements, online training and more.
