May 26, 2015: Performance Assessment 2.0: Lessons from Large-Scale Policy & PracticePrint this Article | Send to Colleague Webinar objectives: To provide state policymakers with a summary of the key lessons learned from the large-scale use of performance assessments in the 1990s-2000s so they can craft improved policies today to support and sustain the integration of performance assessments into balanced assessment systems.
Webinar description: Today, more and more states are considering performance assessments and how they may play a role in statewide assessment systems. At least one state is piloting locally managed assessments in its statewide accountability model. As states move forward, it is critical for them to be aware of what we have learned through decades of research and on-the-ground experience with performance assessments. During this webinar, leading national experts from the Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning, and Equity (SCALE) will share their findings from their report 'Performance Assessment 2.0: Lessons from Large-Scale Policy & Practice.' They will also discuss key recommendations for future performance assessment initiatives, specifically highlighting best practices, emerging state systems, and considerations for validity, reliability and comparability. After this webinar, participants will walk away with a better understanding of the main challenges with the implementation of performance assessments in the 1990s, how circumstances have evolved since then, and why the opportunity for performance assessments is ripe in today's education environment.
