Exciting Opportunities to Volunteer this Fall
Volunteerism is the new buzz word for KCMPI membership. KCMPI members, friends and family have enjoyed a significant fundraising effort at the Sprint Center in 2010, starting with the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship and including concerts, such as Paul McCartney, Tim McGraw and Lady Gaga! Participants earned thousands of dollars for KCMPI, which, in turn, will be earmarked for quality programs, networking events, scholarships and more.
In this challenging economy, it is critical that both the KCMPI Board of Directors and the membership work together to alleviate financial hardships. Did you know that KCMPI only receives a small portion of your annual MPI dues? The remainder of the chapter’s budget comes from cash sponsorships, fundraising, negotiated discounts and in-kind donations. In the past two years, both cash sponsorship dollars and membership revenues have decreased. Due to rising company cutbacks, many companies no longer pay membership dues, forcing members to either leave KCMPI or pay their own dues.
Enter Levy Restaurants at the Sprint Center. The Levy Restaurants Non-Profit Volunteer Program gives organizations, like KCMPI, a chance to make valuable fundraising dollars merely by staffing a food and beverage stand at an exciting Sprint Center event. In turn, Levy Restaurants will donate 10 percent of all proceeds back to KCMPI! To date, thanks to the efforts of our wonderful volunteers, approximately $12,000 has been raised.
Please consider working a shift with fellow KCMPI members sometime this year! The following calendar is included for your information. Merely respond to Fundraising Committee Co-Chairs Shari Hockenbery, CMP, or Lynne Fleenor if you have any questions.
