News From National
The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), is working to educate consumers about bed bugs during Bed Bug Awareness Week, June 3-9, and we need your help! Below is a link to a survey that's all about your work with bed bugs. We would really appreciate it if you could take 10-15 minutes to fill out this survey, as your expert insight will be extremely valuable here. We're looking to compile this aggregated new data to share with the media, on social media, and through other marketing efforts, to help tell the important story of working with YOU — a licensed pest control professional for bed bug prevention and control. On behalf of the entire PPMA team, we thank you in advance for your assistance here, as it will not only help grow consumer awareness, but also help grow the market! Last week, House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway (R-TX) indicated the Agriculture and Nutrition Act, H.R. 2 (the “Farm Bill”) may go before the full U.S. House of Representatives as early as the week of May 14th. The debate continues to be extremely partisan and heavily focused on the Supplemental Nutrition Program, but this week those that fundamentally oppose pesticides have begun to make some noise, and we can’t let that go unchecked! We have to show our strength in numbers and tell our story about why we need to fix pesticide laws and regulations to better protect public health. NPMA is working within the broader pesticide industry to urge the passage of the Farm Bill with pesticide regulatory reform provisions contained in Title IX of the Farm Bill. If you participate before Friday at 12:00 EDT, you will be eligible to win a $100 visa gift card. We will randomly draw two names out of all those that participated. Forward this message onto all of your friends and colleagues. Even if you already participated last week, please participate again to urge your Representative to pass the Farm Bill! Please click here to send a positive message to your elected official, urging their support for the Farm Bill, and how not passing the farm bill will harm your ability to provide pest management services jeopardizing the public health of constituents in their districts.
