2020 has presented numerous unique challenges for the pest control industry including a wide array of federal regulatory issues that required attention from our industry. The past year yield a number of regulatory wins, along with some compromises, but ultimately, the National Pest Management Association remains committed to leadership among industry allies and a consistent advocate for the industry. Every January, as most state legislative sessions begin, NPMA, SPARs, state pest control associations, and the membership have no choice but to defend the industry. In 50 states, over 900 bills are usually introduced that could impact pest control. That is a lot of bills and opportunities for disrupting our industry. Sometimes they are predictable threats like pesticide bans, but other times they are very unpredictable like global pandemics. Nonetheless, the structural pest management industry has persevered.
