2012 New York State housing market sales begin year on par with 2011

New York REALTORS sold 4,529 existing single-family homes in New York State during January 2012, a 0.8-percent decrease compared to the January 2011 sales total of 4,564. The January 2012 statewide median sales price of $212,500 represents a decrease of 5.3 percent compared to the January 2011 median of $224,450, while posting a 5.7-percent increase from December 2011.
