MTA adopts affordable housing ‘statement of purpose’

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) said it won’t require affordable housing in future authority land development deals, but did adopt a "statement of purpose" that notes a lack of affordable housing and requires that developers honor local affordable housing laws. Recently, the MTA increased efforts to sell or lease its land for residential development. It announced development deals at the Harrison Metro-North station and in Long Island City in Queens.
