Myth buster: Chain email makes false claims about national ‘sales tax’ on all home sales

Recently, the "National Real Estate Transfer Tax" chain email has resurfaced making false claims that the Obama administration's health care bill contains a 4.0-percent "transfer tax" on all home sales. This time the subject line is "If you own a home, read this please," but it still falsely claims that all home sales will be subject to a 3.8 "sales tax." The truth is that the health care bill included a provision that imposes a new 3.8-percent Medicare tax in 2013 for some high-income households that have a "net investment income."
