FEMA releases new flood maps for NYC – residents have until June 28 to appeal

New York City is currently working with FEMA to update area maps that identify "special flood hazard areas" across the five boroughs. FEMA proposed changes to these flood maps in December 2013, and now the city is the process of gathering community input before modifying or adopting the revised maps as its own. The proposed map changes are now open for a 90-day comment and appeals period. Comments and appeals are due by June 28, 2015.
