Convention Update Mr. Allen Rider, Former President, New Holland North America, CNH — Agriculture Equipment Manufacturing: Most Innovative Industry of Yesterday and Today, but What of Tomorrow? Allen Rider has been associated with agriculture and equipment almost his entire life. During the last decade he has worked as a business consultant and served on a variety of corporate boards. Immediately prior, he worked for New Holland for nearly 25 years serving in a variety of management roles in Product Engineering, Manufacturing and Sales and Marketing before retiring as President, New Holland North America, CNH in January 2004. During the 1970's, he was on the Agricultural Engineering faculty at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and Oklahoma State University. He has a BS and MS in Agricultural Engineering from Colorado State University and a PhD from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He was raised on a family farm in northeastern Colorado. Honourable Kevin Chief, Manitoba Minister of Jobs and Economy — Manitoba’s Record as the Largest Exporter of Agricultural Equipment in Canada Growing up in Winnipeg’s North End, Kevin Chief quickly learned to spot people who could see potential where others might only see hardship. After attending Strathcona Elementary School, he found that his talent for basketball opened opportunities for further education when he played for the University of Winnipeg as a two-time all-star athlete and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Justice. Before entering politics Kevin spent a decade working in education as Coordinator of the Innovative Learning Centre at the University of Winnipeg, Director of the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre and Community Networker with the River East Transcona School Division. He was appointed Minister of Children and Youth Opportunities in 2012, Minister responsible for the City of Winnipeg in 2013, and currently serves as Jobs and the Economy Minister. Mr. Peter Miller, Managing Director, KPMG — Identifying, Creating and Managing Value in Agriculture Equipment Manufacturing Peter Miller is a corporate finance professional experienced in M&A, divestitures, business valuations, fairness opinions and debt and equity private placements. He has directed corporate finance mandates, including advising independent committees of boards of directors, in a broad array of industries, including the grain and agricultural, manufacturing and distribution, food processing, financial services, consumer products and utility sectors. He has advised the Canadian Wheat Board of its business strategy and business valuation matters following the enactment of Bill C-18, and was also concurring partner on the Fairness Opinion provided by KPMG Australia to the ABB Grain Limited board of directors in connection with Viterra Inc.’s acquisition of ABB. He has advised the purchases and sales of private and family-owned ag equipment/implement manufacturing companies, ag equipment dealerships, tier I ag OEM suppliers and crop input companies. Mr. David Gullacher, President and CEO, PAMI/WESTEST,— A New Approach to Product Development Dave Gullacher was born and raised in the small agricultural community of Imperial and got his degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. Early in his career Dave lead the development of new products and systems in organizations within the farm machinery and railway sectors, as well as in the Alberta oil patch. For the past 28 years, Dave has been with PAMI, first in a business development role and now as CEO. Dave had a key role in the creation of WESTEST. AMC and four other founding members pooled resources to kick-start this organization, to bring equipment and expertise to industry members that previously were only owned by the very largest of manufacturers. These tools are all aimed at taking the time and guesswork out of product development.
