The Belmont Municipal Light Department (BMLD) hired Sanjin (Sam) Osmancevic as engineer/operations manager. He will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, construction and installation for the safe and reliable operation of the electric sub-transmission and distribution system, as well as assisting with budgeting and planning for the department.
Osmancevic comes to BMLD from National Grid, where he has served as operations engineer and, most recently, transmission asset strategy engineer. His experience includes the design of electrical system components for various projects, resolving voltage issues impacting system reliability, co-authoring a strategic plan addressing the condition of assets and the level of service reliability delivered to customers and preparing overall strategy for asset management. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and International Business from Northeastern University.
BMLD General Manager/CEO Jim Palmer praised Osmancevic’s direct experience in operations and engineering within the power industry and called his hiring an important step for the department. "Sam brings a wealth of experience and aptitude to this position," said Palmer. "I look forward to working closely with him as we collectively work every day to deliver to the residents of Belmont the most reliable service at the lowest possible rate through an open and transparent delivery operation."
In his new role, Osmancevic will also have the additional responsibilities of developing operating procedures, serving as the environmental compliance officer and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
