The Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO) Commission has selected Michael R. Hale to replace retiring General Manager Thomas R. Josie. Josie has served as SELCO’s general manager since 1986 and he announced his retirement in December 2010.
The search for a new chief executive generated interest from a wide array of highly qualified individuals. The SELCO Commission and the Search Committee were fortunate to find a strong leader in Hale, who is currently the assistant town manager in Shrewsbury and brings impressive management and leadership skills to SELCO. Hale holds an MBA Magna Cum Laude from Boston University and is a graduate of the Senior Executive Leadership Program from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Hale has worked for the Town of Shrewsbury for more than 20 years. His financial, personnel, collective bargaining and strategic planning experience, along with his deep understanding of the organization, will help guide SELCO in the coming years and will support the organization’s mission to provide excellent service at a fair price to Shrewsbury customers. When Hale will officially assume the position of SELCO general manager has yet to be determined.
