Nearly everyone has heard of social media and some of the most common applications: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Yelp, blogs and wikis. Social media provides a rapidly growing audience and an immediate outlet for customer contact – especially for those in the under-40 crowd. How can public utilities harness the power of this new marketing and communications channel? NEPPA's annual conference will feature a session that will provide a high-level overview of the benefits and possible pitfalls associated with social media and building an online following for your utility.
Presenting will be Jackie Pratt, marketing & customer care manager at Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO). She has been with the organization since 2003. Her background is in Web design, marketing and sustainability. She holds an MBA from Green Mountain College and teaches Web design at Clark University.
