I am often asked by HR professionals about the value of HR certifications. Will it help me get a job? Will it help me advance in my current organization? Is it worth the time and money? And I advise people that attaining certification, be it through SHRM, HRCI, WorldatWork or other respected bodies, is certainly a differentiator and adds a measure of instant credibility to your professional standing.

If someone would have told me (many years ago) when I graduated from Northern State University with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and a Music Minor that my career path would lead me to a role as a Human Resources Manager, I probably would have laughed out loud!
