The dealer selection process for the reintroduction of the Fiat brand in the United States has begun. Chrysler Group expects to select dealers in about 125 markets identified for growth potential in the small-car segment. Fiat dealers will be located in about 41 states. Chrysler Group plans to officially announce its U.S. Fiat dealer network locations in September.

General Motors is creating a new regional organization to meet rising customer demand in South America. The Ontario Government has recently announced that Ontario individuals, businesses and organizations that purchase or lease a new plug-in hybrid electric or battery electric vehicle after July 1, 2010, may be eligible for a rebate between $5,000 and $8,500.

With a goal to curb carbon dioxide by 30 percent by the year 2017, all areas of city government are striving to reduce its carbon footprint. For the New York City Parks Department, it's a commitment it welcomes whole-heartedly. The 2010 goal is being reached, in part, by the recent addition of Kenworth T370 diesel-electric hybrids.

Washington State's transportation and commerce departments are teaming up to implement the nation's first "electric highway," an initial network of public access electric vehicle (EV) recharging locations along Interstate 5. By using renewable soy oil as a 25 percent replacement for petroleum oil, Ford researchers more than doubled rubber's stretchability and reduced its environmental impact. Soy-based rubber parts such as radiator deflector shields, air baffles, cupholder inserts and floor mats are under consideration for future Ford vehicle programs.
