Kelley Blue Book warns online car buyers of a scam using a fake Kelley Blue Book website. The scams look to solicit funds from buyers via an escrow-based, guaranteed buyer-protection program, which Kelley Blue Book does not offer.

Data released on September 20 by S&P Indices and Experian showed vehicle loan defaults moved up to 1.31 percent in August from 1.27 percent in July. While the level increased slightly month-over-month, the August level is considerably lower than a year ago when it stood at 2.06 percent.

The FBI's newly published 2010 Uniform Crime Report demonstrated that the national number of motor vehicle thefts is decreasing. While that's good news, 43.9 percent of vehicles stolen in 2010 were never recovered, which amounts to 323,605 stolen vehicles that were never returned to their owners.
