Hotel Scamming is an issue will ALL major conventions and events worldwide, it is the latest form of cyber crime and while a number of companies have been prosecuted in the USA it is still a major concern for us and all WRLA members planning to attend the 2016 WRLA Buying Show in Calgary, January 20 - 22. Please keep your reservation information confidential. Do not provide details of your reservation to anyone who calls you. If in doubt, please email WRLA-housing@icsevents.com

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Byron Porritt, Outside Sales Representative at the Maple Ridge, BC, Canada facility. Byron passed away on September 4, 2015, surrounded by his amazing family and friends after a heroic battle against cancer. Byron started with Simpson Strong-Tie on May 12, 2008. Our National Sales Manager originally interviewed Byron in the spring of 2008 for a Dealer Sales position – He had had a long day of interviews and Byron was near the end of the day. The first thing that struck him was how personable he was and he left a very memorable first impression. Version 5.0 adds new inventory management capabilities.
Weyerhaeuser released Version 5.0 of its Stellar® dealer operations software, with changes that help those responsible for purchasing engineered lumber better understand what to order, when to order, and how much to order. Previously, Stellar software was primarily used by the operations team at a dealer to track inventory on hand, create optimized production instructions, and operate in conjunction with Weyerhaeuser’s NextPhase® Site Solutions program, a comprehensive package of products, services, software and fabrication equipment. Vicwest Inc. (the "Company" or "Vicwest") announced that they have secured a new manufacturing facility in Edmonton, Alberta, scheduled to open first quarter of 2016. This new "Centre of Excellence" is based on advanced quality manufacturing systems, in conjunction with leading edge technologies and service platforms. With the opening of this new operation, Vicwest confirms that it will be closing the Delta, B.C. manufacturing plant at the end of 2015. Until the new plant is fully operational, all Western customers will be serviced from the current facilities in Edmonton and Saskatoon.
"The decision to close the Delta manufacturing plant was not taken lightly," said Paul Lobb, President and General Manager, Vicwest Building Products. "There were several contributing factors affecting the decision process, including how best to serve the western marketplace while delivering on our commitment of best in class value. Our new Edmonton facility will allow Vicwest to continue to bring quality and innovative products to our customers and further enhance our delivery and service levels."
