AAHOA News
Congratulations to the Greater Los Angeles Area & South Pacific Hotel Owners Conference leaders on a spectacular start to the year!
With over 750 attendees, the event raised an impressive $50,000+ for AAHOA's PAC and welcomed 10 new Lifetime Members to the AAHOA family. The HYPE and HerOwnership event that followed was also a tremendous success, giving women and young professionals the perfect setting to network with industry leaders.
The efforts and contributions of all who were involved underscore a firm commitment to the success of the association.
Hats off to Naresh (ND) Bhakta, AAHOA Greater Los Angeles Area Regional Director; Nilesh (Neil) Bhakta, AAHOA South Pacific Regional Director, all of our dedicated Ambassadors, AAHOA Young Professional Director Western Division Tanmay Patel, and AAHOA Women Hoteliers Director Western Division Shetal Zina Patel for their dedication and hard work in making the first AAHOA Hotel Owners Conference & Trade Show of 2024 one to remember.
On Friday, May 10, Representative Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) participated in another insightful AAHOA Back-of-the-House Tour, offering a unique perspective on the hospitality industry.
The tour was led by AAHOA Ambassador Anup Patel, who was accompanied by fellow AAHOA Ambassador Tejash Patel. Unlike typical tours of fully operational properties, this tour took place at a new hotel construction site for a Towne Place Suites by Marriott property.
Rep. Harshbarger saw firsthand the complexities and challenges involved in bringing a new hotel to life, from the early stages of construction to the planning and coordination required to meet industry standards. This hands-on experience provided valuable insights into the significant investments and efforts that go into expanding the hospitality landscape.
These tours are crucial for AAHOA's advocacy efforts, allowing elected officials to understand the behind-the-scenes operations essential to the hospitality industry.
Dylan Patel, Young Professional Director Eastern Division, and Vik Zaver, Georgia Regional Director, were interviewed last week by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The article “Georgia jobs for April: Good growth, but hospitality still catching up” focused on the state's economy.
Patel and Zaver spoke about their experiences in hiring in a challenging market. Patel noted that owners often jump to assist with housekeeping tasks such as folding towels.
“Sometimes, as the owner, you even have to jump in and do the work,” Patel said. “There just aren’t enough hands to do everything that needs to be done, so you’re folding towels, getting rooms ready, or handling the front desk.”
This week is National Travel and Tourism Week, and we want to recognize the incredible contributions of the hospitality industry. From warm welcomes at check-in to unforgettable experiences, our industry is the heart of travel.
