What Happened: What an incredible day at the North Texas Charity Golf Tournament! A big shout-out to North Texas Regional Director Dhiren Masters and our amazing Ambassadors for organizing such a fantastic event.
 
Deeper Dive: More than 100 players and generous sponsors came together, making the day a huge success. Together, we raised nearly $60,000 for these impactful charities: AAHOA Charitable Foundation, Businesses Ending Slavery & Trafficking (BEST), NANU Foundation, Nora's Home, and SLPS Aastha Charities.

What Happened: The North Texas Hotel Owners Conference & Trade Show was a huge success thanks to Regional Director Dhiren Masters and the dedicated Ambassadors for their efforts and commitment. With 350 attendees, 9 new member signups, and nearly $50,000 raised for PAC, this event was a tremendous success.
 
Deeper Dive: Attendees were privileged to hear from guest speakers, including State Representative Salman Bhojani, Neal Patel of Patel Partners, and Garrett Coppedge of the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, who shared their invaluable insights. Their perspectives on the industry's current state and future trends provided attendees with actionable takeaways to implement in their businesses.

On the rise

As the first employee hired by My Place Hotels in 2012, Sarah Dinger never felt out of place rising through the ranks of her own company, but at industry events, she couldn’t help but notice men held the vast majority of leadership positions.

Lately, however, Dinger has observed a change as the industry’s commitment to career development, diversity, and inclusion has taken root.

"You’re seeing the gap close between the number of men and women at these industry events, but we’ve still got some work to do," said Dinger, executive vice president of franchise operations at My Place Hotels. "It’s not really about prioritizing one gender over another but rather just ensuring equal opportunities and recognition for individuals in the industry."

As Truist Securities wrote, “Overall U.S. RevPAR was +3.8% y/y for the week ending 10/12/2024, per STR/CoStar, above the prior week's result of -7.7% y/y and above the trailing 10-week average of +1.3%. Last week's results were noisy from holiday shifts (Yom Kippur/Columbus Day) as well as the mixed demand impact from Hurricane Milton (benefit to lower-priced hotels and to regional markets away from the storm (Atlanta RevPAR: +20.6% y/y / New Orleans +35.9% vs. Tampa -9.8% and Orlando -5.3%). We expect hurricane displacement demand from residents whose homes were damaged and government/construction relief to benefit Midscale and Economy results for the foreseeable future. Upscale RevPAR: +4.0% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +5.1% y/y.”
