From Vipin "Bavaji" Patel, AAHOA Gulf
Regional Director:
As of
February, 2016, there have been 203 homes completely rebuilt after the
catastrophic earthquake in Nepal. Since May 2015, I set the goal to restore one
village through the support and generosity of our community leaders across
Houston, Dallas, California, Mississippi, Louisiana, Washington, D.C., and
other areas.
With their help, we were able to raise $310,000 for this humanitarian project. Furthermore, with the help of the Charitable Care Foundation and Hope for Charity, we were able to build homes for the needy.
Medical Camp Project
During
March, I led a medical camp with 11 medical doctors and staff members that
volunteered from our LPS community. They were Dr. Pankaj Mowji, Dr. Umaben
Patel and Dr. Ramaben along with three other American doctors, two registered
nurses and three supporting staff members. As a result of this Medical Camp
Project there were 48 surgeries completed and 1,200 children who received
pediatric wellness checks. This group has held over 16 camps worldwide in many
different countries, including India.
