Texas-based members of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) and the Small Independent Motel Owners Association (SIMA) have pledged $51,000 and free rooms to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner’s storm-relief fund.

Last week, Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL) introduced a resolution under the Congressional Review Act to nullify the DOL’s persuader rule. Yesterday, the House Education and Workforce Committee hosted a hearing titled, "The Persuader Rule: The Administration’s Latest Attack on Employer Free Speech and Worker Free Choice." Yesterday the real estate mogul proclaimed himself as the Republican Party’s ‘presumptive nominee’ after winning all five presidential primaries on Tuesday. With sizable victories in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Rhode Island and Connecticut, Trump now has more than 75 percent of the delegates he needs to clinch the Republican nomination. At last week’s South Carolina State Advocacy Day, AAHOA members sat down with Governor Nikki Haley to discuss short-term rentals, hotel taxes and tourism funding, among other critical issues. On Tuesday, AAHOA members in Alabama followed suit, participating in the Alabama State Capitol Advocacy Day in Montgomery. Governor Haley is the first woman to hold the position in South Carolina, and is the second Indian-American governor in the United States. Click here to read more about the event.
