30th Hunter Hotel Conference Underway in Atlanta
The popular real estate and finance conference designed for hotel owners and investors kicked off yesterday at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. Among many notable speakers, Canadian venture capitalist, author and media commentator Leonard Brody, who served as the keynote speaker, graced the main stage today. AAHOA President and CEO Chip Rogers and Kevin Carey, executive vice president of the American Hotel & Lodging Association will speak tomorrow morning, giving an update on legislative and regulatory policy and their impact on the industry. La Quinta to Celebrate 50 Years at 2018 Annual Conference
More than 1,300 franchise owners, general managers, corporate employees and suppliers are expected to attend the annual La Quinta Inns & Suites conference this year. The event, taking place in San Diego, March 22-23, offers an opportunity to learn more about the brand and ways to enhance profitability and visibility. It also provides a platform for knowledge sharing and networking among La Quinta owners. Among other key topics and special guest appearances, the pending Wyndham acquisition will be addressed. AAHOA officers will also be onsite, March 22, for the AAHOA/La Quinta Inns & Suites Brand Alliance Meeting.

Strong Mid-Week Business Travel Gives U.S. RevPar a Bump
Overall U.S. RevPAR was up 3.9 percent last week compared to this time last year, per STR. Independent hotels were up 2.8 percent. Though up, midscale proved weakest at 2.1 percent. The Easter holiday is expected to negatively impact results for March; and the Nor'Easter hitting the East Coast may also have some impact. For more, read the full report.
