North Pacific Ambassador and lifetime AAHOA member Bijal Patel was recently elected to the California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) Board of Directors. Patel, owner of Coast Redwood Hospitality will serve in 2018 as secretary and treasurer. A member of AAHOA's Young Professional Committee, he is the youngest board member to be elected to the CH&LA Executive Committee and will be the first association chair under the age of 30. At the recent AAHOA Annual Convention & Trade Show, Patel was honored with the 2018 Outstanding Young Professional Hotelier Award.
Hotel owners of Wyndham properties are invited to participate in the company’s upcoming annual conference April 9-12 in Las Vegas. The conference will cover topics like revenue generation, customer experience, leadership and hotel technology, and provide owners an opportunity to network with and learn from industry peers and experts. AAHOA officers will be speaking several times during the conference, as well as holding a brand alliance meeting on Monday, April 9. A certification program in hospitality management is being offered but space is limited. The first 50 people who register for both the conference and the training will receive a $500 credit on their May 2018 franchise account statement.
The Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH) will convene for one of its regional tradeshows in Bethesda, Md., on Thursday, April 12. AAHOA Vice Chairwoman Jagruti Panwala is participating in a panel discussion on women trailblazers in hospitality, their successes and challenges.

A charity golf tournament will be held on May 31 in
conjunction with the Southwest-Albuquerque Regional Meeting. Proceeds from the
event will go to support pediatric cancer research and the Roadrunner Food Bank
of New Mexico.
AAHOA members are encouraged to register for the legislative action days and other events hosted in partnership between AAHOA and state lodging and travel associations in their local area. Consider signing up to help educate legislators about your business.
A group of undergraduates enrolled in the hospitality program at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College recently received the 2017-2018 AAHOA Scholarship.
