SunTrust Robinson Humphrey reports, “Economy (+5.6%) was the strongest chain scale for branded hotels; Upscale and Upper Midscale were the weakest at +3.5%. Midscale (+5.4%) outperformed the overall US hotel industry average. Last week was a relatively clean comp with summer leisure travel being a larger portion of overall demand. Independent hotels (+6.2%) outperformed the national average by 110 bps. Both Transient and Group were relatively strong last week.” For more, read the full report.
