SunTrust Robinson Humphrey reports, “Luxury (+0.3%) was the strongest chain scale for branded hotels; Midscale was the weakest at -3.6%. Upper Midscale (-1.8%) also underperformed the industry average. Occupancy growth is continuing to go negative for branded hotels. We first called out this trend last month. Month-to-date we see the greatest occupancy weakness in Luxury and Upscale although unlike Upscale, Luxury ADR growth is offsetting negative occupancy.
