SunTrust Robinson Humphrey reports, “Upper Midscale (-0.3%) was the relatively strongest chain scale for branded hotels; Luxury was the weakest at -2.6%. Midscale (-1.4%) slightly underperformed the industry average. Similar to the prior week's results, overall RevPAR last week was modestly negative with ADR results also mostly negative across the chain scales. There was some particular weakness in some large markets (Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco, for example, appeared to have tough y/y group comps), which given market supply and high ADRs, helped contribute to the national headline results. RevPAR results turned negative on Wednesday (-1.9%) and remained around -2% to -3% through Saturday.” For more, read the full report.
