Even in the midst of a pandemic, bad-faith actors continue to file lawsuits and send demand letters alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). AAHOA reminds hoteliers to take action on the following:
- Check your physical property presence to ensure compliance with the current accepted standards and regulations
- Check your online presence, including your microsites, to ensure compliance with the current guidelines and regulations
- Check your brand resources and standards, as well as your brand.com website for compliance
- Check your online travel agency resources and listings for compliance
- Review and understand your available insurance coverage for protecting your business should you be sued
- Consider an ADA audit at your property to check for compliance with federal and state requirements.
Ensure your property is welcoming to all guests. The cost of ADA compliance is far less expensive than defending a lawsuit. For additional guidance, see AAHOA’s library of ADA-related webinars here or contact franchise@aahoa.com with any questions.
