AAHOA News

Time is running out! The credentialing process to be eligible to vote in the 2022 Elections ends tomorrow Friday, April 8. Everybody should have already completed the first three steps in the nine-step voting process:
  1. Ensure you’re eligible to vote;
  2. Make sure a unique email address and mobile phone number in MyAAHOA is on file (no sharing with family or businesses);
  3. Download the Voatz app to your smart device.
Once those three steps are complete, go to the AAHOA-Voatz website and click on "Voter Guide" in the top menu. This is a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process to set up the Voatz app, confirm your identity, and prepare you to cast your ballot. Remember, the credentialing process is NOT complete until you have received confirmation in the Voatz app that you're verified.

Reminder: Eligible voters must complete the credentialing process by 11:59 p.m. EDT TOMORROW or you WILL NOT be able to vote in the 2022 AAHOA Elections!

AAHOA has released our updated 12 Points of Fair Franchising in the form of a new resource guide, “An Educational Primer: A Best-Practice Approach to Designing, Developing, and Implementing Best-in-class, Mutually Beneficial Franchise Systems.” The purpose of the 12 Points is to help facilitate improved relationships and more equitable and fair franchise agreements between AAHOA Member-Franchisees and Franchisors. “Because of the changing business environment post-COVID-19 and the ever-evolving need to educate our members, it was time for AAHOA to revisit the 12 Points to ensure they’re relevant and reflective of industry changes and evolution,” AAHOA Chair Vinay Patel said.

The April issue of Today's Hotelier magazine is now available. In our cover story, the AAHOA Officers give their perspectives on the power of unity and the key challenges hoteliers face today. Truist Securities reports, “Last week’s RevPAR was up against a +287.6% comparable result in 2021 vs. +255.2% in the prior week. On a 3-year run-rate (vs. 2019), RevPAR was +4.5% vs. +7.3% in the prior week’s 3-year run-rate. Upscale RevPAR: +55.3% y/y and -4.6% over 3 years; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +37.5% y/y and +4.6% over 3 years. Last week looked to us a bit softer on urban and group vs. the prior week; given the materiality of group demand to urban markets, we assume a softer group week drove urban relative weakness. Last week also had a Ramadan calendar shift and some flight cancellations, which may have also contributed to the softness.”
