Last week, AAHOA held its inaugural HerOwnership Conference & Retreat, bringing together hundreds of women in the hospitality industry for two days jam-packed with wellness sessions, education sessions, networking, and an unforgettable riverboat cruise.

The HerOwnership Conference & Retreat was far from your typical women’s event. While this event was women-centric, it focused specifically on women who are interested in owning their first hotel, learning about owning hotels in general, how to own a property or business, and promote women who are interested in exploring hotel ownership.

"Seeing all of these dynamic women in all areas of hospitality come togteher for a few days of education and relaxation was extremely powerful,” said AAHOA Female Director Eastern Division Lina Patel, CHO. “I’m proud to have worked alongside the entire AAHOA Team in launching the HerOwnership program. This conference and retreat gave women hoteliers an opportunity of a lifetime.”

This past summer, AAHOA hosted five charity golf tournaments where it raised money for 18 charities, including the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House. These causes are near and dear to AAHOA, and several AAHOA Team Members spent Tuesday evening at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Atlanta serving food to families whose children are receiving pediatric care. The team picked up the food supplies and cooked a delicious taco bar, allowing families to enjoy a hot meal and spend time together after a long day at the hospital.

Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a place to stay for families traveling more than 50 miles to Atlanta, among other locations, while a sick or injured child receives care for serious medical conditions. Giving back to the community is a core value at AAHOA, and the partnership with charities, like the Ronald McDonald House, is a great way for the organization to make a difference on behalf of the industry.
