Point 8 of the 12-part webinar series was released earlier this week, and sheds light on the legal dispute process between Franchisees and Franchisors. In this webinar, AAHOA President & CEO Laura Lee Blake is joined by Vice Chairman Bharat Patel and Lifetime Member Neil Patel to discuss the importance of an independent and fair process to resolve disputes and the role negotiations play in minimizing litigations.
“I will share with you some good news,” AAHOA President & CEO Laura Lee Blake said. “As a part of recent negotiations with the various Franchisors, one Franchisor, in particular, is looking at establishing a new dispute resolution process before the parties are headed to binding arbitration.”
“The key is to remind the Franchisor and remind yourself that we have a financial situation. It’s not a legal issue,” AAHOA Vice Chairman Bharat Patel said. “We don’t immediately have to grab an attorney. Typically, what ends up happening is that I hire an attorney, they hire an attorney, and we’re not resolving the basic issue. It’s best to come across with open eyes and open ears.”

Truist Securities reports, “Last week had a very easy y/y comp due to Omicron, and this easy comp will likely continue to be through March. The +5.6% result vs. 2019 reflected weakness in higher-end individual corporate travel (corporate belt tightening). Note that Las Vegas had three concurrent conventions/trade shows last week (Builders' inclusive), which ran in mid-February in 2019, propping up the overall U.S. results both in 2023 and vs. 2019. Upscale RevPAR: +27.9% y/y and -4.1% vs. 2019; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +17.2% y/y and +4.1% vs. 2019.” For more, read the full report here and read the China/Europe report here.
