AAHOA Central Midwest Regional Director Arti Patel recently became the new Chair of the Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association. OHLA is Oklahoma’s trade association for the hotel and lodging industry, representing $7 billion in state business sales, more than $7 billion in guest spending, and $2 billion in hotel industry wages and salaries. Additionally, AAHOA Members represent a significant part of the economy in Oklahoma, owning nearly 90% of the hotels in the state.
"I like to continue to be a part of organizations like AAHOA, where I can make an impact for the industry and community,” Arti said. “Helping to solve problems and being a part of positive change is rewarding."
Arti Patel got voted in as a Board Member for the OHLA Board nearly six years ago and became the Secretary of OHLA in 2020. AAHOA is thrilled to have released its Point 9 webinar recently and continue to help Franchisees succeed in 2023. The Point 9 webinar indicates that “in the event a dispute between a Franchisor and Franchisee has not been resolved by participating in an informal, in-person meeting with authorized representatives from the parties or by participating in mediation proceedings, the party pursuing its claims in a court of law should do so in the county and state in which the subject Facility is located.”
In this webinar, AAHOA President & CEO Laura Lee Blake is joined by Lifetime Member Pimal Patel to discuss why Point 9 is a key point to many Franchisees.
“The Franchisors have ample resources. They can hire attorneys. They can easily come to the state where your hotel is located. To your county, to your city,” AAHOA President & CEO Laura Lee Blake explained. “Instead of you, as a small business owner, being required to travel to them. Let’s make it fair and bring it specifically to wherever the facility is located.”

Truist Securities reports, “Last week’s comparisons incorporate calendar shifts and Omicron considerations. The 2022 and 2023 weeks included President’s Day. However, for 2019, President’s Day was in the prior week (easy holiday shift comp vs. 2019). For the y/y comparisons, by mid-February, Omicron has become less of an easy comp as travel demand picked up by this point of the month last year. Mardi Gras occurred on 2/21 this year vs. 3/1/22 and 3/5/19. New Orleans RevPAR was +122% on Monday vs. 2019. Upscale RevPAR: +15.9% y/y and +9.9% vs. 2019; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +11.0% y/y and +16.4% vs. 2019.” For more, read the full report here and read the China/Europe report here.
