Port Angeles Awarded $50K for Marine Trades Industrial Park Site Plan

A newly awarded $50,000 grant from the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) will partially fund the feasibility study/master plan for the Marine Trades Industrial Park at the Port of Port Angeles.

The study/plan will include a preferred site layout alternative that will maximize the utilization of the 19 acres of waterfront property, a cost estimate, and a project phasing schedule. The CERB funds will be matched with $50,000 of budgeted Port funds to complete the Marine Trade Industrial site plan.

The property has been idle since its former occupant, a plywood mill, ceased operations in December 2011.
"The CERB team was integral in the port receiving this grant," stated Jesse Waknitz, the port’s environmental manager. "With CERB’s assistance through the grant process and their funding support, the former KPly mill site is well on its way to becoming a job producer for Clallam County once again."
