Canaveral Port Authority Selects Weinberg as Chairman, Installs New Commissioners Lloyd and Harvey

At their November meeting, Canaveral Port Authority board members last week selected Tom Weinberg chairman and welcomed two new commissioners, Micah Loyd and Bob Harvey.
Elected to the port commission in 2010 and again in 2014, Chairman Weinberg served as chief of staff to former U.S. Senator Mel Martinez and as deputy county administrator for Orange County, Florida. He now is a director of Fidelity Bank of Florida and holds a Florida real estate license.
The commissioners also named Wayne Justice vice chairman and Jerry Allender secretary/treasurer for the coming year.
Elected to the port authority board in January 2015, Commissioner Justice is a maritime consultant and a retired U.S. Coast Guard rear admiral. Mr. Allender has been a board member since 2010. He is an attorney with his own firm and previously served as a Canaveral port commissioner from 1983 to 1994.

Bob Harvey served 33 years in the United States Army and Air Force as a fighter pilot and combat veteran. He retired as a colonel and is now a published author and airline pilot.
Micah Loyd is a certified general contractor and second-generation owner of Loyd Contracting, Inc. He also sits on the North Brevard Economic Development Zone Board.

Hans Bean has joined the North Carolina State Ports Authority as vice president, trade development.
Mr. Bean brings to the position more than 20 years of maritime industry experience that that includes work in shipping, supply chain and logistics, key client management and port business development. Most recently, as senior director, commercial – sales and marketing for APM Terminals, North America, he led development and contracting efforts that resulted in double digit growth in the United States, more than $150 million in new, profitable revenue streams and increased North American terminal activity by over 10 percent. Previously, he spent more than 10 years abroad with Maersk Line focusing on beneficial cargo owners.
"We are excited about the positive momentum radiating throughout the organization right now and I believe Hans’ appointment is another encouraging sign that we are moving in the right direction," said Executive Director Paul J. Cozza. "Hans’ key leadership roles within the industry will prove valuable as we continue to reclaim the North Carolina market."
