Dudley Dixon was recently elected president of the board of commissioners of the Lake Charles Harbor & Terminal District.

Other new board officers for 2017-18 are Mike Eason of Merrill Lynch, vice president; John LeBlanc of Phillips 66, secretary-treasurer; and Elcie Guillory, assistant secretary-treasurer.

Mr. Dixon has served on the port board since 2012, when he was nominated by the city of Westlake and appointed by then-Governor Bobby Jindal. He worked for Conoco from 1961 to 1982, served two terms on the Westlake City Council, and in 1982 was elected to the first of his six terms as mayor of Westlake.

Last month as well, the board welcomed new members Carl Krielow and Thomas Lorenzi, both appointees of Governor John Bel Edwards.

An attorney with Lorenzi & Barnatt, Mr. Lorenzi was named as the 2007 Distinguished Attorney by the Louisiana Bar Foundation and was the recipient of the David A. Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association. He has served as president and board member for various state and local professional associations.

Mr. Krielow has more than 35 years of experience in the construction, real estate and agricultural industries, and manages commercial real estate interests and agricultural operations. He is a member of the Louisiana Independent Rice Producers Association and the U.S. Rice Producers Association.

The seven-member board is the governing body of the Port of Lake Charles. Members are appointed by the governor of Louisiana to terms of four years.

Greater Lafourche:  Curtis Pierce Sworn in as Port Commissioner

Curtis Pierce was sworn in November 8 as the newest elected member of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission. Voters in the 10th Ward of Lafourche Parish elected Mr. Pierce at a special election on October 14 to fill GLPC’s open board seat.

Mr. Pierce retired from local telephone, cable, and internet service provider Vision Communications after over 41 years of service, during which he advanced from working construction to splicing cable and then to supervisory roles in multiple departments.

He also spent nearly four years as shipping and receiving coordinator at Crosby Tugs, LLC, a Galliano (LA) marine services company with a strong local presence in the Port Fourchon area.

The nine-member board has jurisdiction over Port Fourchon and the South Lafourche Airport and is the only elected port commission in the state of Louisiana.

"Curtis Pierce is an active member of our community, and we welcome that community spirit and positive energy to our board," said GLPC Board President Perry Gisclair. "He has contributed to the success of local businesses over the course of his career, and we are fortunate that he comes to us with that knowledge and experience as we work to keep our port and airport growing and prospering."
