Oxnard Harbor District’s Leadership Looks Toward Expanding Exports and Strengthening Community Relationships in 2018
The Port of Hueneme welcomes new leadership as the Board of Harbor Commissioners named officers for the 2018 year. Mary Anne Rooney was unanimously voted to serve as president, marking the second time she has led the Board in this capacity.
Rooney was first elected to the Board of Harbor Commissioners in November 2010, and became the first woman serve as president of the Board in 2014. She is an active member of the community serving on the Board of LAFCO, past president of the Association of Pacific Ports (APP); Economic Development Committee member for the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA); executive director of the World Affairs Council, California Central Coast Chapter; delegate on a Leadership Mission to Taiwan in 2013, past secretary of the Ventura County Special District Association, and member of the Oxnard/Ocotlán Sister City Committee. In addition to her other roles, Ms. Rooney is an independent strategic business consultant, working with the Ventura County Civic Alliance, the Oxnard Union High School District Linked Learning program, and private clients.
President Rooney is joined by Jess Herrera, who will serve as vice president; and Jess Ramirez, who will serve as secretary for the next year. Both are longshoremen at the port, and have served on the Board of Harbor Commissioners for 24 years. Jason Hodge and Dr. Manuel Lopez will continue to serve as commissioners this year.
Harbor Commission Names Head of Construction Management
The Port of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has named Darrin Lambrigger as the Harbor Department's new Director of Construction Management.
Lambrigger, who had been Acting Director of Construction Management since June 2017, oversees construction of port projects, including the $1.5 billion Middle Harbor Redevelopment Program.
The Construction Management Division is part of the Program Delivery Group of the Harbor Department's Engineering Services Bureau. Lambrigger fills the position opened by the promotion of Suzanne Plezia to Senior Director/Chief Harbor Engineer last summer.
Lambrigger joined the port in November 2011 as Deputy Chief Harbor Engineer, and was promoted to Assistant Director of Construction Management in August 2015. Before joining the port staff, he was a consultant to the port beginning in 2008, working on the Pier G Administration and Operations Buildings projects. Lambrigger earned both his master's in Civil Engineering and bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Ports and Intermodal Expert Heather Wood Joins Dewberry
Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, announced that Heather Wood has been hired as the business development director for the firm’s ports and intermodal division in the southeast and mid-Atlantic regions. She is based in the firm’s Virginia Beach office.
Wood brings with her more than 20 years of experience in the ports and maritime industries, related to sustainability, environmental and government affairs, strategic engagement, and public policy. In her new role, she is responsible for the growth and development of the firm’s ports and intermodal clients across the two regions. Prior to joining the firm, Wood was a vice president and the director of sustainability for the Port of Virginia, and most recently a principal and national ports market leader for Kennedy/Jenks Consultants. Throughout her career, she has contributed to the advancement of environmental and sustainability programs and public policy efforts for numerous ports and terminal operators, including the ports of Virginia and Los Angeles.
Wood is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Women’s College (1991), and holds a master of arts in marine affairs from the University of Virginia (2000) and a master in business administration from the College of William and Mary (2004). She is the vice chairman of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s State Water Control Board; vice chairman of the St. Margaret’s School board of governors; member of the governance committee for the Williams School board of directors; member of the advisory board for the Women’s Transportation Seminar, Hampton Roads chapter; a 2008 graduate of LEAD Virginia and 2003 graduate of LEAD Hampton Roads; and a member of the American Association of Port Authorities, Virginia Maritime Association, and CIVIC Hampton Roads. Wood is also a MacDonnell Group Certified Port Executive.
