Unified Command Advances Cleanup at Key Bridge, Removing Containers and Debris to Restore Shipping Channel

The Unified Command is actively involved in removing containers from the M/V Dali and clearing wreckage from the collapsed Key Bridge at the Patapsco River in Baltimore. As of April 11, 2024, efforts are focused on both the safe extraction of 38 containers from the ship to facilitate the ship's movement and the dismantling of the bridge sections that are obstructing the main shipping channel. Debris from the collapsed bridge is being processed and recycled at Sparrows Point, Maryland. The removal operations are dependent on weather conditions, and despite the restricted marine traffic, a temporary channel has allowed 69 vessels to pass. Meanwhile, a comprehensive safety and no-drone zone has been established around the site, and the public is advised to stay informed through various communication channels provided by the Unified Command.
