Port of Vancouver USA Advances Mixed Use, Public Access Development
 
The Port of Vancouver USA recently submitted its Terminal 1 Concept Development Plan (CDP) application to the City of Vancouver, marking a major milestone in the process to redevelop its birthplace on the Columbia River.

The CDP application is a detailed plan about Terminal 1 with information about planned land uses, including the port’s plans for a hotel, public marketplace, commercial and retail space, public art and connection to the City’s Renaissance Trail.

The City has a thorough public process for reviewing CDP applications. First, City staff will spend up to 28 days reviewing the port’s application for completeness. Once the application is deemed complete, the City issues notice for a 30-day public comment period.

After the comment period closes, City staff reviews comments received and writes a report. The next step is a hearing with the Hearings Examiner, who issues a recommendation to the City Council. The council will also hold two public hearings and then vote on whether to approve the application. If approved, the application moves on to the Washington State Department of Ecology for review and decisions on shoreline permitting.

The port expects this process to be complete in 2017.
