Long Beach: Port Promotes Stacey Lewis to HR Director

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners on June 26 approved the selection of Stacey Lewis as director of human resources services for the Port of Long Beach. The appointment is effective July 1.

Ms. Lewis, the port’s assistant director of human resources, was promoted to director following the retirement of the previous HR Director. The port, or harbor department, has approximately 550 employees in 21 divisions.

Ms. Lewis joined the Port of Long Beach in 2008. She was appointed assistant director of human resources in January 2009. Previously, she was president of a consulting firm providing services to several local municipalities and nonprofit organizations, including the port. She is also former a civil service manager for the City of Torrance.

Ms. Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in organizational development from the University of Pacific. She also holds professional certifications from the International Public Management Association in Human Resources, Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society of Human Resources Management.

She also serves as a commissioner for the Long Beach Unified School District Personnel Commission, and is an alumna and executive board member of Leadership Long Beach Institute.

Two New Directors Appointed to the Montreal Port Authority

On the recommendation of Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau, the Governor General in Council has appointed Hélène Lauzon and Johanne Lépine to the board of directors of the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) for terms of three and two years, respectively.

Ms. Lauzon chairs Conseil Patronal de l'Environnement - the Quebec business council on the environment. Ms. Lépine is executive vice-president and chair, Eastern Canada, at Aon Risk Solutions. As board members, they represent port users.

The MPA board consists of seven members – one each appointed by the federal, provincial and municipal and four appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Federal Transport Minister of Transport in consultation with the Port's Users Committee.

The other board members are Chair Marie-Claude Boisvert, Vice Chair Marc Y. Bruneau, Eric Simard, and Germain Thibault, and Donna Gates.

New Orleans: Donnell Jackson joins Port as Media Relations Manager

Donnell Jackson is the new media relations manager for the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans.
 
Mr. Jackson joined the port in May after serving as director of communications and external relations for the Orleans Parish School Board. Earlier, he spent 10 years working in TV newsrooms as a producer, senior producer and executive producer at news stations in New Orleans, Kansas City (MO), Winston-Salem (NC), and Philadelphia. He earned a BA in broadcast journalism from Temple University.

Saint John: Thomas O’Neil Named to Port Authority Board

Thomas O’Neil has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of directors of Port Saint John.

Mr. O’Neil is a lawyer with the law firm McInnes Cooper in Saint John. His practice focuses on complex disputes involving commercial, corporate, construction and products liability. He is also a professional engineer. Mr. O’Neil is past chair of Board for Service New Brunswick, past chair of Power Commission for the City of Saint John, and past president of the New Brunswick Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers.  

The port authority board consists of seven members, including one representative each of the federal, provincial and municipal governments and four – including Mr. O’Neil appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Federal Transport Minister of Transport in consultation with the Port's Users Committee.

The other board members are Chair Philip Brewer, Vice Chair Kathy Craig, Allen Bodechon, Lisa Keenan, Melanie Bell Hughes, and Donna Gates.
