RUAG Space USA Grand Opening at Port Canaveral Logistics Center
Canaveral Port Authority commissioners and staff joined with local and state officials and space industry leaders on July 12 to mark the official opening of the RUAG Space USA, Inc. manufacturing facility at the Port Canaveral Logistics Center in Titusville (FL).
This official opening comes just eight months after RUAG Space USA signed on as one of the port’s tenants leasing space in the 246,736-square-foot Port Canaveral Logistics Center in 2016, RUAG announced plans for a manufacturing plant to produce structural and thermal equipment for spacecraft.
The Swiss technology company will begin production immediately at newly completed 23,800 square-foot facility for satellite manufacturer, OneWeb Satellites, as part of Florida’s expanding commercial space industry. RUAG has projected up to 50 jobs in four to five years. OneWeb estimates its satellite production project will generate up to 625 jobs for the region, including those at RUAG Space USA.
"Port Canaveral is committed to being a world-class gateway for commerce and an economic driver for Central Florida," said port CEO Capt. John Murray. "Today’s opening marks an exciting beginning, not only for Port Canaveral, but for our entire region. We are proud to be partners with these leaders in space and communication technology and look forward to their growth."
