Saint John: David Emerson Appointed to Port Authority Board
The city of Saint John has appointed David Emerson to a three-year term on the board of directors of Port Saint John, effective August 19, 2017. He succeeds Kathryn Craig, a port authority board member since 2014.
Mr. Emerson has been an employee of the University of New Brunswick since 2001, and currently serves as the Senior Director, Government Relations, in the Office of the President. He is a graduate of Ryerson University's Urban and Regional Planning program. He is certified at the Fellowship level as an economic development professional, and is currently president of the Economic Developers Association of Canada. Mr. Emerson is a former member of the New Brunswick Police Commission and former chair of the Saint John Board of Police Commissioners.
Saint John is one of 18 port authorities established under the Canada Marine Act. The port authority board consists of seven members, including one representative each of the federal, provincial and municipal governments and four appointed by the federal government to represent port users.
The other board members are Chair Philip Brewer, Allen Bodechon, Lisa Keenan, Melanie Bell Hughes, Glenn Cooke, and Donna Gates.
