Nanaimo Port Authority Board Elects New Chair and Vice Chair 

Dr. Michelle Corfield was elected chair of the Nanaimo Port Authority board of directors following the resignation November 22 of Moira Jenkins.  Dr. Corfield was appointed to the board by the City of Nanaimo on July 1, 2015.
 
Dr. Corfield, who holds a doctorate in organizational leadership management from the University of Phoenix, is an entrepreneur with businesses that range from the commercial fishing industry to independent management consultant.  She specializes in process design, facilitation, research, and organizational development. She sits on the boards of various other organizations, including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. She is one of the founding partners and designers of the BC Multi-Sectoral Leadership Initiative. 
 
Elected vice chair was Donna Hais, a federal appointee who has represented the Lessee User Group on the port authority board since October 30, 2014.  Ms. Hais is a partner and general manager of a construction company, R.W. (Bob) Wall Ltd.  She is past president of both the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce and the Nanaimo Executive Association and an active member of the Young Professionals of Nanaimo Advisory Group. In 2014, she won the Community Business Leader – BC Business Excellence Award in 2014.
 
The seven-member board consists of one representative each of the federal, provincial and municipal governments and four appointed by the federal government to represent port users.
 
The other board members are Audrey Cope, Jeet Manhas, and Richard Ringma. Two seats are vacant.

Craig T. Munroe Appointed to Vancouver Fraser Port Authority 

Canada’s Governor General in Council, in conjunction with the Federal Minister of Transport, has appointed Craig T. Munroe to the board of directors of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority for a term of three years commencing November 15, 2017.
 
Mr. Munroe, a practicing lawyer and partner at Fasken Martineau and a member of the firm’s labor, employment and human rights group. He has practiced law in British Columbia for over 18 years. Mr. Munroe has extensive experience serving at the executive level in several organizations, as well as on professional and non-profit boards of directors.
 
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s board of directors is composed of 11 members, including one federal appointee; one British Columbia provincial appointee; one appointee for the Prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba; one municipal appointee; and, seven federal appointees recommended by port users.
