The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) hosted public open houses on June 18 and 20 to discuss the expansion project for a new container terminal. These events, held in Contrecoeur and Verchères, attracted approximately 200 participants who engaged with MPA experts on topics such as environmental impact, community relations, transportation, and economic benefits. Feedback from attendees indicated high satisfaction with the format, information provided, and opportunities to voice opinions, reinforcing the MPA's commitment to transparent communication and ongoing community engagement.
 
Port Everglades in Broward County, Florida, significantly boosted its operational performance in 2023, achieving a global ranking of 65 in the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), up from 89 the previous year. Regionally, the port climbed to the third spot in the United States and Canada, maintaining its position as the top port in Florida. Infrastructure enhancements including new berth space and additional cranes have contributed to this success, with ongoing investments expected to further improve efficiency in the coming years.
 
 
   
MANA Nutrition celebrated the groundbreaking of a new 320,000 square-foot warehouse in Pooler, GA, near the Port of Savannah on July 17, 2024. This facility, set to open in Q1 2025, will double MANA's production capacity of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and Ready-to-Use Supplemental Food (RUSF). Partnering with Georgia peanut farmers and factories, MANA aims to enhance its global supply chain focused on combatting child malnutrition, with plans to expand production beyond its Fitzgerald facility and serve international aid organizations like USAID, UNICEF, and the World Food Programme.

Construction of the Holdom Overpass at Holdom Avenue in Burnaby is set to begin late 2024, aimed at enhancing trade capacity for the Port of Vancouver and improving local community connectivity and safety. Spearheaded by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority in collaboration with Burnaby, CN, and the Government of Canada, the four-lane overpass will span rail lines and Still Creek, linking Holdom Avenue with Douglas Road. This infrastructure project is crucial for increasing rail efficiency, reducing traffic congestion, and supporting sustainable transportation solutions in the region.
 
 
   
Plaquemines Port in Belle Chasse, LA, has secured a $7.4 million RAISE Grant from the Department of Transportation for engineering the Walker/Peters Road Vehicle Bridge. This project, aimed at improving connectivity and traffic flow, will create alternative routes and reduce congestion, benefiting residents of Plaquemines Parish. The grant will fund the preliminary design phase, crucial for advancing the bridge's development and anticipated completion by 2026, marking a significant milestone in enhancing regional transportation infrastructure.
 
 
   
Brandin Lopez has joined the Port of Benton as the new Engineering and Development Manager, starting his role after serving as a Senior Project Manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS). With extensive experience in overseeing engineering projects and a background in public service from his years with the City of Richland, Lopez aims to contribute to the port's development initiatives. Port Executive Director Diahann Howard expressed enthusiasm about Lopez's appointment, highlighting his expertise in managing capital improvement projects and his commitment to community engagement.
