2015 is proving to be another banner year for Rhode Island’s Port of Davisville, with auto imports and ship calls already topping the calendar year records set in 2014. The Georgia Ports Authority reports container movements through its Garden City terminal in the Port of Savannah rose 3 percent in October, bringing the fiscal year total for July-October to 1.77 million TEUs and an increase of up 6.2 percent from the comparable period of FY 2014-15. The Northwest Seaport Alliance saw container volumes at its Seattle and Tacoma facilities surpass the 3 million-TEU mark in October, a 5 percent increase from January-October 2014.
 
Veteran port executive Steve Tyndal, PPM®, has joined the Port of Brownsville as senior director of marketing and business development. Troy McClelland won re-election November 6 to his second, six-year term on the Everett Port Commission. Glenn Carlson will retire as executive port director of Port Freeport this coming March. New Orleans Port CEO LaGrange Named 'Logistics Executive of the Year' by National Industrial Transportation League.
 
The Port of Houston Authority’s fiscal year 2016 operating and capital budget approved November 17 funds strategic projects to support new growth opportunities, along with recapitalization projects and channel projects to benefit the entire Houston Ship Channel.
 
Port Tampa Bay is expecting recently approved lease agreements with Titan Florida, Inc. and Sea-3 of Florida, Inc. will result in substantial movements of fly ash and liquid petroleum gas cargo.

Master riggers recently moved three multi-million dollar helicopters and 10 ambulances through the Jacksonville Port Authority’s heavy lift and project cargo berth at Blount Island Marine Terminal. A ship arrived November 13 in the Port of Corpus Christi carrying a 500-ton ship loader that will be used at the new voestalpine Texas plant for loading hot briquetted iron (HBI) for export. The Port of Palm Beach earlier this month offloaded its first cargo of imported rebar in more than eight years.  It also marked the first time the port has handled both the raw input and final product of steel rebar production.
 
To increase velocity of cargo moving out of the Port of Long Beach, officials will consider reducing the amount of time import containers can be stored on docks without charge. The Port Authority of New York & Jersey’s newly launched Agency Operations Center (AOC) in Jersey City is designed to enhance traveler safety and help reduce congestion by increasing the efficiency of operations and incident responses across the agency's entire cross-Hudson transportation network.
 
 
   
The City of Kalama Planning Commission has approved the Port of Kalama’s Master Plan to develop 70 acres of port property to make way for the proposed Spencer Creek Business Park. The port sees the mix of light industrial, office, commercial and retail uses is a boon for a region lacking in developable land. Port International Ship Repair & Marine Services, Inc. (ISR) recently acquired another floating dry dock for its Port Tampa Bay facility. This acquisition is expected to facilitate business expansion, more than doubling ISR’s present workforce of some 200 employees.
