Niki McKinnell is the new vice president of public affairs at the Florida Ports Council. The board of directors of the Georgia Ports Authority has elected James L. The Long Beach board of harbor commissioners recently approved a plan to expand the Port of Long Beach’s use of locally hired, disadvantaged and veteran workers for more than $700 million in construction projects. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has received an Employment Equity Achievement Award from the Government of Canada.

The Georgia Port Authority (GPA) board of directors has approved a fiscal year 2017 budget that includes $116 million for capital infrastructure improvements. The directors also reaffirmed the GPA’s commitment to the Jasper County Container Terminal in South Carolina. Crowley Puerto Rico Services will spend $21 million for improvements and upgrades at the Isla Grande terminal it leases from the Puerto Rico Ports Authority in San Juan in preparation for the arrival next year of the first of the company’s two new LNG-powered, Commitment Class con/ro ships.

The board of directors of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority earlier this month approved the installation of artistic lighting on cement silos near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River as part of the port’s continuing effort to beautify Cleveland Harbor.
