At their November meeting, Canaveral Port Authority board members selected Tom Weinberg as chairman and welcomed newly elected commissioners Micah Loyd and Bob Harvey. Hans Bean has joined the North Carolina State Ports Authority as vice president, trade development. 
 
The Georgia Ports Authority board of directors at its November 21 meeting approved funding for projects that will boost rail lift capacity at Garden City Container Terminal in the Port of Savannah and develop additional acreage for vehicle processing at the Colonels Island complex in the Port of Brunswick. More than $300 million is earmarked for infrastructure, warehousing and equipment at the Port of Philadelphia through a Capital Investment Program announced November 22 by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf. These improvements will result in doubling container capacity at the port and provide capacity increases as well for breakbulk cargo and auto handling.
 
 
   
The Port of Houston Authority will now be marketed as Port Houston, with the adoption of a new brand and logo designed to ensure the port continues to broaden its business base and provide economic benefits and jobs to the region, state and nation. 
 
 
   
Deploying zero and near-zero emission trucks and cargo-handling equipment and expanding programs that reduce ship emissions are among the core strategies the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are proposing for the next version of the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP). Port Everglades is addressing a berthing capacity shortfall by developing new wetlands that support wildlife and ecological quality in the center of this urban, industrial seaport.

The governing commission of the Port of Long Beach has awarded 136 port community sponsorships totaling a record $538,750 in the first call of the fiscal year. Sponsored events include the American Cancer Society’s Long Beach Gala, an International City Theatre free performance series, the United States Veterans Initiative annual luncheon, the JetBlue Long Beach Marathon, the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Long Beach annual gala.
 
 
   
The Port of Halifax welcomed 238,217 passengers and 136 vessel calls during the 2016 cruise season. The busiest passenger day was October 11, when five cruise ships were in port.

On November 18, Port Tampa Bay officials welcomed the captain and crew of Holland American Line’s MS Oosterdam, which will call Tampa home for the 2016-2017 winter cruise season. 
 
The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) reports October was the strongest month since 2012 for full load import and export container volumes at its Seattle and Tacoma terminals, with increases from a year ago of 11 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

Georgia Port Authority reports its Garden City Terminal in the Port of Savannah experienced a 4 percent increase in loaded container traffic during the first four months of the fiscal year that began July 1.  The October tally of 251,566 loaded TEUs set an all-time GPA record for that month.
