GCT USA and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on Dec. 19 broke ground for the ExpressRail Port Jersey facility ("Greenville Yard"). Cheniere’s second LNG export project located at the Port of Corpus Christi has almost reached the halfway mark of completion. The Port of Vancouver USA is building a new industrial building in hopes of attracting new manufacturing, warehousing and distribution businesses to the port. The Port Everglades Navigation Improvements Project has received federal authorization to move forward with deepening and widening the Port's navigation channels. Maintenance dredging of the Port of Redwood City's shipping channel was completed in mid-December.

According to a recently released economic impact analysis report, the Port of San Diego contributed more than $8 billion and 68,000 jobs in total economic output for 2015. The Port of Philadelphia announced a comprehensive Capital Investment Program that will create thousands of jobs by investing more than $300 million in the Port’s infrastructure, warehousing, and equipment.

Last week, Port of South Louisiana Executive Director Paul Aucoin travelled to Washington, D.C., for a day-long series of meetings with key transportation influencers and stakeholders to discuss the port’s priorities.

On Dec. 16, the Roue libre-Port de Trois-Rivières team made a generous donation to the students of Saint-Dominique-et-Sainte-Catherine-de-Sienne School of $25,650, which it raised by participating in the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie (GDPL).

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) reported for the month of November a 6.5 percent increase in total container traffic, which was fueled by a strengthening export market and a busy peak holiday season. The Enviva terminal at the Port of Wilmington is now operational and sent the first export shipment of wood pellets to Europe last week.  Marseilles announced a new direct weekly container service to Asia from the Port of New Orleans Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal. New cargo business is coming to the Port of Long Beach’s largest terminal. 

Vanessa Baugh has been elected to a one-year term as chairwoman of the governing board of Port Manatee, which also has chosen its two newest members – Priscilla Whisenant Trace and Stephen R. Jonsson, and continuing member Charles B. Smith, as officers.
